Was the year 1976 with some people thinking to do the feast of Tarxien in Melbourne Australia, with all the courage they formed A committee and in the same year for the first time they organized the feast of annunciation in Queenscliff. The feast was lead with big picture frame of the annunciation with celebration as a mass and some poems that been sent from Tarxien Malta on a tape .from that year Tarxien social club was formed and the feast of annunciation kept growing every year.
After 3 years in 1979 the statue of annunciation was made, that lately got exchanged with a new one made in Malta from Renzo Gauci and painted and glittered by John Orlando.
The Tarxien feast annunciation come every April 2nd or 3rd week of the month that been going for years that some visitors from Malta to, come and celebrate the feast with us every year, with Friday healing mass then after at the reception hall for refreshments and old Maltese tradition comedy play, Saturday the big dinner dance with a lot of entertainment and last hour with Maltese traditional band , Sunday 3.00 pm the mass followed by procession with the statue of the annunciation After at the reception for refreshments and some Maltese traditional band play with closing the night some music played by D . J. Other activities that Tarxien social club does are Remembrance Day Sunday mass every November, and few family dances during the year.
Today the Tarxien social club has 250 members that annual meeting held every year in November, with meetings held every month by committee members.
Even though we are far from Malta the Tarxien social clubs always keep up to date with information thanks to Rev R Degwarra and Tarxien major Council Paul Farrugia and Tarxien band club Maria annunzjata.
The Tarxien social club like to thank all the people that have made the Tarxien social club a success and we look forward to the future.
